You've probably seen some sites that allow you to Google their site for a certain term. This is accomplished via the "site" advanced operator. The following syntax is used for the site operator:
site:site_to_search
For example, if we wanted to search
for the term "Mobile Phone Reviews", we would use the following:

The "inurl" advanced operator is used to search for a term within
URL's. For example, searching for "inurl:binaryuniverse" searched
for all sites that have the term "binaryuniverse" in their URL.
The "intitle" is used to search for a term in the title. Thus,
"intitle:binaryuniverse" finds all pages with "binaryuniverse"
in their title.

Google keeps caches of pages. When the Google spider indexes a page,
it stores a copy of it. Thus, the cache is a copy of what the page was
like at an earlier date. To view the cache for a page, you can simply
search for the page, and then click the "cache" link underneath.
However, there is a quicker way, that involves only typing in
search terms, and not clicking. Simply type "cache:pageurl.com"
to view the cache of a page (in this case pageurl.com).

Google also allows you to search for pages of a certain filetype,
using the syntax "filetype:TYPE". Replace 'TYPE' with the file type
you want to search for. So, if you wanted to search for tutorials
on SQL that are in PDF format, you would search for the following:

Not only is Google the world's best search engine, it also happens
to be a mighty fine dictionary. To use it as a dictionary, just type
"define:TERM", and replace TERM with the word you wish to look up.

for definitions or roflmao. Fyi, roflmao means "rolling on the floor laughing my **** off".

And now, it's time for some fun -- Google whacking. Actually, after
a couple minutes, I have found Google whacking to become extremely
boring, not to mention frustrating. A google whack is a two-word query
that returns one result. You may not use quotes, and both words in
the query must be real words. And yes, it is very hard.
At this point, the basics of Google have been covered, and you should
be a moderately good Googler.

Speed Up Your Mozila Firefox
Speed Up Your Mozila Firefox
1. Open up FF click into the Firefox address location bar, and type about:config , press Enter.
2. The "Config" file will appear in the Firefox browser as a page with hundreds of lines of code in it. Now, we start by enabling some advanced tabbed options:
3. Locate the line browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs . (tip: press "b" on your keyboard to quick scroll).
4. Double click on browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs . This will set its toggle to "true". Now your advanced and enhanced tabbing should be set.
5. Next: we will increase the "pipeline" RAM ability for Firefox to accomodate more packet transfer. In the same config document, scroll down to the line that says network.http.pipelining . Double click this line to set it to "true".
6. Lastly, we will increase the maximum pipeline requests to 100. Find the line that says network.http.pipelining.maxrequests . Double click on it, and a dialog box will pop up. Change the setting from 4 to 100.
7. No need to save this file. Simply close and restart Firefox, and you should see an immediate 10% to 40% increase in web page transfer speed, and faster opening of your tabbed windows! Enjoy!

2. The "Config" file will appear in the Firefox browser as a page with hundreds of lines of code in it. Now, we start by enabling some advanced tabbed options:
3. Locate the line browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs . (tip: press "b" on your keyboard to quick scroll).
4. Double click on browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs . This will set its toggle to "true". Now your advanced and enhanced tabbing should be set.
5. Next: we will increase the "pipeline" RAM ability for Firefox to accomodate more packet transfer. In the same config document, scroll down to the line that says network.http.pipelining . Double click this line to set it to "true".
6. Lastly, we will increase the maximum pipeline requests to 100. Find the line that says network.http.pipelining.maxrequests . Double click on it, and a dialog box will pop up. Change the setting from 4 to 100.
7. No need to save this file. Simply close and restart Firefox, and you should see an immediate 10% to 40% increase in web page transfer speed, and faster opening of your tabbed windows! Enjoy!

To view the amount of time that XP has been running with out rebooting or restarting the computer:
1) Open the Command Prompt (located under Accessories) or go to START - RUN
2) Type systeminfo
3) Once the system has finished gathering the information, scroll up and the time is displayed in the System Up Time field.
As you can see, running systeminfo also gives a lot of useful information.

Lets say you have a bout 4-5 very useful applications which you use always. By placing them all on the first level menu will eventually crowd your start menu. Now why not utilize the right-click option instead? The right-click option gives you the ability to Open, Explore and Find. If you can add a shortcut to your application to that menu, it would be great.

Facebook made a series of bold and controversial changes regarding the nature of its users privacy on the social networking site. The company once known for protecting privacy to the point of exclusivity (it began its days as a network for college kids only - no one else even had access), now seemingly wants to compete with more open social networks like the microblogging media darling Twitter.
Those of you who edited your privacy settings prior to December's change have nothing to worry about - that is, assuming you elected to keep your personalized settings when prompted by Facebook's "transition tool." The tool, a dialog box explaining the changes, appeared at the top of Facebook homepages this past month with its own selection of recommended settings. Unfortunately, most Facebook users likely opted for the recommended settings without really understanding what they were agreeing to. If you did so, you may now be surprised to find that you inadvertently gave Facebook the right to publicize your private information including status updates, photos, and shared links.
Want to change things back? Read on to find out how.
1. Who Can See The Things You Share (Status Updates, Photo, Videos, etc.)
Probably the most critical of the "privacy" changes (yes, we mean those quotes sarcastically) was the change made to status updates. Although there's now a button beneath the status update field that lets you select who can view any particular update, the new Facebook default for this setting is "Everyone." And by everyone, they mean everyone.
If you accepted the new recommended settings then you voluntarily gave Facebook the right to share the information about the items you post with any user or application on the site. Depending on your search settings, you may have also given Facebook the right to share that information with search engines, too.
To change this setting back to something of a more private nature, do the following:
1. From your Profile page, hover your mouse over the Settings menu at the top right and click "Privacy Settings" from the list that appears.
2. Click "Profile Information" from the list of choices on the next page.
3. Scroll down to the setting "Posts by Me." This encompasses anything you post, including status updates, links, notes, photos, and videos.
4. Change this setting using the drop-down box on the right. We recommend the "Only Friends" setting to ensure that only those people you've specifically added as a friend on the network can see the things you post.

After last month's privacy changes, Facebook set the new defaults for this other information to viewable by either "Everyone" (for family and relationships, aka relationship status) or to "Friends of Friends" (birthday, religious and political views). Depending on your own preferences, you can update each of these fields as you see fit. However, we would bet that many will want to set these to "Only Friends" as well. To do so:
1. From your Profile page, hover your mouse over the Settings menu at the top right and click "Privacy Settings" from the list that appears.
2. Click "Profile Information" from the list of choices on the next page.
3. The third, fourth, and fifth item listed on this page are as follows: "birthday," "religious and political views," and "family and relationship." Locking down birthday to "Only Friends" is wise here, especially considering information such as this is often used in identity theft.

There have been misleading rumors recently about Facebook indexing all your information on Google. This is not true. Facebook created public search listings in 2007 to enable people to search for your name and see a link to your Facebook profile. They will still only see a basic set of information.
While that may be true to a point, the second setting listed on this Search Settings page refers to exactly what you're allowing Google to index. If the box next to "Allow" is checked, you're giving search engines the ability to access and index any information you've marked as visible by "Everyone." As you can see from the settings discussed above, if you had not made some changes to certain fields, you would be sharing quite a bit with the search engines...probably more information than you were comfortable with. To keep your data private and out of the search engines, do the following:
1. From your Profile page, hover your mouse over the Settings menu at the top right and click "Privacy Settings" from the list that appears.
2. Click "Search" from the list of choices on the next page.
3. Click "Close" on the pop-up message that appears.
4. On this page, uncheck the box labeled "Allow" next to the second setting "Public Search Results." That keeps all your publicly shared information (items set to viewable by "Everyone") out of the search engines. If you want to see what the end result looks like, click the "see preview" link in blue underneath this setting.

Ever try to copy an Excel worksheet: formatting, data, header, footer and all?
Most Excel users have tried this at one time or another. Often when I talk to people, I find they have varying levels of success. Some can copy only the data. Others have a little more success and can get the data and the formatting copied to a new sheet.
The elusive golden ring is to get the whole worksheet copied to a new sheet. I mean everything, including the kitchen sink. Okay, maybe not quite the sink, but you get the idea!)
Well, here's your map to finding the golden ring.
To begin an entire worksheet copy, move your cursor over the sheet name tabs and right click on the tab of the sheet to be duplicated.
A right click menu will pop open.
From that menu, select the Move or Copy option.
The Move or Copy window will appear and offers you several options.
The top drop down box allows you to choose where the worksheet or its copy will end up. If you want a copy to be put into a different file or book, you will need to open the other file too, before you right click.
The second box lists all the sheets in the current workbook. Select the sheet that you wish to copy.
Just one more quick thing. Check the "Create a copy" box. (If you don't, the worksheet will be moved, not copied).
Click OK.
That's it! You'll now have an exact duplicate of the worksheet in the file or sheet you selected.
Okay, so you caught me!
There is one difference that I could find. The worksheet copy has a slightly different name. (It is now named whatever the original was named with a (2) at the end). Just rename the worksheet and you'll be on your merry way!

u can repair ur windows XP OS without loosing any setting or data, if u have any missing OS file or any errors, repairing will fix it.
Reboot the computer with first boot device as CD-Rom
Place the Win XP cd in CD-Rom
At the prompt "Press any key to boot from CD" press any key
Setup starts-Here u also see a Repair option but dont use it-Press Enter to continue setup-Press F8 to accept License Agreement
Now setup will search for previously installed Operating systems, a list will be displayed
Note: if u have windows 98 it wont be displayed in the list
Select the Operating system which ur repairing, like "C:\Microsoft Windows XP Professional"
Press 'R' to repair
Setup startup copying files and Restarts
Note: if the file copying process is not done and the system restarts u have to again follow the same as above by booting from CD-Rom, after file copying is done system restarts
Now u have to boot from HDD not from CD, At the prompt "Press any key to boot from CD" dont press any key, setup will continue
U need ur CD key
Warning: If u have downloaded Service Pack 2 and installed it then u have to again download and install it after repair
If u have ur Service Pack 2 inbuit in the XP CD then no need to worry, it will get installed along with Os

Windows 7 had created a special themes for some reasons and it does get activated when we select the region while installing the windows 7, otherwise it just stays disable. But don't worry you can manually activate these themes by following simple 10 steps.
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Click Organize, and select Folder and Search Options.
3. Go to View tab.
4. Select Show hidden files, folders and drivers and uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended). If prompted with confirmation, click Yes.
5. Click OK.
6. Browse to the following folder: \Windows\Globalization\MCT\
7. There are five folders in the name with format MCT-XX (where XX is AU, CA, GB, US, or ZA) which represents globalization settings for each region. Go into the folder that you want to activate its theme.
Note: AU, CA and ZA regions have the same themes.
8. Open the Theme folder inside the selected region folder.
9. Double click on the XX.theme file to apply the theme to the Windows 7 desktop system. Once a theme is ran and activated, the theme will be remembered and saved into Personalization options, so that user can change or select the theme again directly from Personalization settings screen.
10. Now to go to Folder Options to reverse the first 5 steps to hide the hidden and protected system files and folders again.
